ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A powder metallurgical method for the production of metallic coin blanks which are used for the coining of readily identifiable coins having particular known characteristics for protection against counter- feiting. The method comprises the formation of each coin blank component into a powder, controllably mixing said powdered components together to form a total powder mixture, pressing the total powder mixture to at least 50% of the theoretical coin blank density, and sintering at a temperature below the melting temperature of the components in a controlled atmosphere to give the coin blank.
