ABSTRACT This invention relates to powder metallurgy compositions and has particular reference to powder metallurgy compositions which incorporate lead in order to improve the machineability of the resultant composition. The present applicants have found that the lead content of the composition may be substituted by an effective amount of bismuth. A proportion of bismuth may be within the range of 35-65% by weight of the proportion of lead that it replaces and this enables a powder metallurgy composition, particularly bronze, to be produced without use of significant quantities of lead.
