ABSTRACT: A powdered material is described for thermal spraying on metal substrates to provide resistance against erosion and corrision. It comprises a mixture of a self-fluxing matrix alloy powder and of a powder of metal carbide or carbides, the carbide content of the mixture being comprised between 20 and 80 percent by weight thereof and the matrix alloy having the following composition, in percent by weight: Cr 18.0 - 35.0 % Fe 0.1 - 25.0 B 0.5 - 4.5 Si 0.5 - 5.5 C 0.01 - 2.0 % Mo 0 - 15.0 % Nb 0 - 2.0 % Ni Remainder
