A power amplifier (figure 1) for a parametric loudspeaker system which utilizes switch-mode power conversion (110) to increase efficiency. The power amplifier is configured to coordinate the switching frequency of the amplifier with the carrier frequency of the parametric loudspeaker system, so a lower switching frequency may be used even though the power amplifier must amplify ultrasonic signals. The amplifier can be further optimised to counteract the reactance of the transducer load (118) at the carrier frequency.

L'invention concerne un amplificateur de puissance destiné à un système de haut-parleurs paramétriques, lequel amplificateur utilise une conversion de la puissance du mode de commutation pour accroître l'efficacité. L'amplificateur de puissance est configuré pour harmoniser la fréquence de commutation de l'amplificateur et la fréquence porteuse du système de haut-parleurs paramétriques, de manière à pouvoir utiliser une fréquence de commutation inférieure même si l'amplificateur de puissance doit amplifier des signaux ultrasonores. Il est possible d'optimiser davantage ledit amplificateur pour contrebalancer la réactance de la charge du transducteur à la fréquence porteuse.
