POWER AMPLIFIER DEACTIVATION SYSTEM FOR MULTIPLEXED TRANSMITTERS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved transmitter is disclosed for multiplexed commu- nication systems of the type wherein a plurality of information sig- nals are transmitted to a satellite. The output amplifier of the transmitter comprises first and second stages wherein the second stage is adapted to receive power in response to a user provided con- trol signal. By removing power from the final stage of the output amplifier, as opposed to removing the information signal from the transmitter input as in prior art systems, greater noise isolation is acheived during inactive periods. A method for coupling the trans- mitter to the transmit antenna provides a feedback circuit for con- trolling the power output of the transmitter. The feedback circuit has a large time constant. When the transmitter is to he coupled to the transmit antenna, the input to the transmitter is removed for a predetermined time interval. Because of the large time constant of the feedback circuit, the power output of the transmitter is not adjusted during this period.
