A method of removing zinc from galvanized steel, comprises immersing the galvanized steel in a caustic electrolyte solution, electrically connecting the steel to the positive terminals of a source of direct current, and electrically connecting the negative terminals of the current source to a cathode material which is stable in caustic electrolyte and has a low hydrogen overvoltage.

La présente invention a pour objet une méthode pour enlever le zinc de l'acier galvanisé et comporte l'immersion de l'acier galvanisé dans une solution électrolyte caustique, la mise en liaison électrique de l'acier aux bornes positives d'une source de courant continu, et la mise en liaison électrique des bornes négatives de la source de courant vers une cathode stable dans un électrolyte caustique et présente une faible surtension à l'électrode à hydrogène.
