ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to an improved tunnel hull for power boat applications. A tunnel shaped cavity with a downward sloping roof is defined between two identical side sponsons and is interrupted by a longitudinal central hull section. Each side sponson has three outward directed facets and the central hull section has adjoining left and right facets. Towards the bow the central section is sharply V'd and has a leading edge which dips below the leading edges of the sponsons and then gradually tapers to a flatter rectangular section towards the stern where the central section is of lesser depth than the side sponsons. The forward portion of the central section provides an additional planing surface at low to moderate speeds. Its intercession into the tunnel increases the hull's buoyancy to reduce "stuffing" into oncoming waves and further serves to strengthen the tunnel roof. The intermediate facet on each side sponson provides an additional planing surface at low to moderate speeds and hence allows the boat to accelerate more rapidly. The leading edge of each of the side sponsons forms a reversed "S" curve to allow some air spillage out of the tunnel which, combined with the reduced size of the tunnel because of the central hull section, reduces the danger of blowover at high speeds.
