- 1 - Abstract: The present invention relates to a power converter apparatus. The apparatus is comprised of an AC power supply, a DC load and a controllable switching unit connected across the AC power supply and the DC load. The switching unit provides a current switching function for alternately repeating the mode of rectifying the AC power supply and supplying power to the DC load and the mode of making the current flowing to the DC load flow back. The power converter apparatus is further provided with a gate control unit for controlling the switching unit in such a manner that at the time of switching from the power supply to the flow-back mode, the power supply current and the flow-back current flow simultaneously.
