A transfer case for motor vehicles with off-the-road gear comprises a casing (1), an input shaft (2), a first output shaft (3), coaxial with the latter, a second output shaft (4), offset therefrom, a speed-reduction unit (5), a coupling unit (6) and an offset drive (7). The case is intended to run quietly and with little wear, be small and inexpensive. For this purpose, the speed-reduction unit (5) comprises a central drive gearwheel (11), connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the input shaft, a central driven gearwheel (12) and at least two intermediate transmissions (14), rotatable about spindles (13) fixed to the casing, each with two intermediate gearwheels (15, 16), one of which (15) meshes with the central drive gearwheel (11) and the other (16) meshes with the central driven gearwheel (12), a first driven shaft (17), connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the central drive gearwheel (11), and a hollow second driven shaft (18), connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the central driven gearwheel (12), which driven shafts lead to a coupling unit (6). L'invention concerne une boîte de vitesses intermédiaire pour véhicules automobiles comportant un rapport tout terrain. Cette boîte de vitesses présente un carter (1), un arbre d'entrée (2), un premier arbre de sortie (3) coaxial à ce dernier, un deuxième arbre de sortie (4) décalé par rapport au premier arbre de sortie, une unité de réduction (5), une unité d'embrayage (6) et une unité de commande de déplacement (7). L'objectif de l'invention est de créer une boîte de vitesse qui soit silencieuse, compacte, économique et qui présente une faible usure. A cet effet, l'unité de réduction (5) comprend un pignon d'entrée central (11), solidaire en rotation de l'arbre d'entrée, un pignon de sortie central (12), et au moins deux renvois (14) qui peuvent tourner autour d'axes (13) solidaires du carter, et qui présentent chacun deux pignons de renvoi (15, 16), dont l'un (15) s'engrène avec le pignon d'entrée (11) et l'autre (16) avec le pignon de sortie central (12). Cette boîte présente en outre un premier arbre de sortie (17) solidaire en rotation du pignon d'entrée central (11), ainsi qu'un deuxième arbre de sortie (18) creux, solidaire en rotation du pignon de sortie central (12), qui mènent à une unité d'embrayage (6).
