A power generation system comprising a wind mill (11) for generating a drive force by being rotated by wind power, a generator (19) for generating power by being operated by the drive force of the wind mill (11), a shortcircuit braking device (21) for switching the output side of the generator (19) between an output state and a shortcircuit state, a rotation speed input unit (41) and a processing unit (51) for recognizing, based on the rotation speed of the wind mill (11) in an output state and the rotation speed of the wind mill (11) in a shortcircuit state, the scale of a wind power in the both states, and a processing unit (51) for judging whether to switch the generator (19) to an output state or to a shortcircuit state based on the rotation speed of the wind mill (11) and for switch-controlling the shortcircuit braking device (21) based on the judged result.
