A B S T R A C T An installation for obtaining energy from solid fossil fuels, especially those high in inerts, more particular- ly bituminous coal, the said installation consisting of at least one block in which the solid fuels are converted into gas and containing a gas turbine and a steam turbine for extracting energy from the gas, the dust and sulphur being removed from the gases, in the block, before the gas turbine, characterized in that a melting-chamber boiler, to which the ground fuel is fed, is equipped with pressure firing, the flue-gases therefrom being adapted to be fed to the desulphurizing unit and to the dust-removal unit before being used in the gas turbine.
