In the process of Mig Welding, conducting electricity from the contact tip holder to the contact tip requires a mechanical connection which must be maintained solidly at all times. A common form of joining these two pieces or mating surfaces is to have a male and female threaded connection. With the POWER LOCK DIFFUSER thread design the mechanical integrity of the joining these two pieces or mating surfaces is maximized. By adding a wedge ramp to the bottom of the female portion of the tip holder thread this can be obtained. The contact tip male thread crest is then actually deformed under load to give a more robust locking condition to the two parts which aids in the electrical and thermal conductivity between the two pieces or mating surfaces of the threaded electrical connection.
