A power operated door apparatus is provided for controlling access through a doorway. The apparatus includes a door supported for linear movement between open and closed positions, and an automated drive system for moving the door between the open and closed positions. The drive system includes a motor, a gear reducer assembly, and a chain or belt connected between the gear reducer assembly and the door. The gear reducer assembly includes a housing, an output shaft assembly supported for rotation relative to the housing, an eccentric cam connected to the drive shaft of the motor for rotation therewith, at least one cycloid disc supported on the eccentric cam for rotation relative to both the cam and the housing, and a stationary ring gear supported on the housing in alignment with the cycloid disc and the eccentric cam. The gear reducer assembly permits the door to be manually opened and closed when the automated drive system is not operating, and does not require the use of a separate clutch for enabling manual operation.
