ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Reactor plant comprising a light-water-cooled reactor core with vertical fuel assemblies and with an inlet end and an outlet end for cooling water, a reactor vessel, a heat-exchanger, a water-filled pool, two hydraulic connections arranged between the reactor vessel and the primary side of the heat-exchanger, and a circulating pump for the primary circuit of the heat- exchanger. The reactor core is contained in the reactor vessel and the reactor vessel arranged in the pool. The coolant of the primary coolant circuit during normal operation is blocked from the pool water by means of a blocking device with a liftable blocking effect. The pool water during normal operation is provided with an additive of dissolved neutron-absorbing material in such an amount that a complete replacement of the water of the reactor vessel with pool water means a reduction of the reactor power by at least 25 %.
