A socket (10) provides power to a mating connector plug when actuated by a switch (22) integral with the socket (10). The switch (22) can be actuated by insertion of the connector plug, by pivoting open a socket cover (16), by sliding a slide cover into an operational position, or by a combination of the above. The switch (22) is isolated from the power supplied to the socket (10) and acts as a power supply signal to enable socket power. The socket (10) is powered only when needed as indicated by the actuation method, thereby reducing draw on a power supply connected to the socket (10). The switch (22) actuation methods described also provide safety features by disabling power to the socket (10) unless the socket (10) is actually in use. The socket cover (16) and slide cover also prevent access to the socket (10) unless positioned to receive a connector.
L'invention concerne une prise femelle (10) qui alimente une fiche d'accouplement lorsqu'elle est actionnée par un commutateur (22) solidaire de ladite prise femelle (10). On peut actionner ledit commutateur en introduisant ladite fiche, en ouvrant, par pivotement, un couvercle (16) de prise femelle, en faisant glisser, en position de fonctionnement, un couvercle coulissant, ou en combinant ce qui précède. Le commutateur (22), qui est isolé du courant électrique alimentant la prise femelle (10), agit comme signal d'alimentation électrique destiné à activer le courant électrique de la prise femelle. Cette dernière (10) n'est alimentée qu'en cas de besoin, comme l'indique le procédé d'actionnement, ce qui permet de réduire le prélèvement sur une alimentation en courant électrique reliée à la prise femelle (10). Les procédés d'actionnement de commutateur (22) ainsi décrits, qui présentent également des caractéristiques de sécurité, permettent de désactiver l'alimentation de la prise femelle (10) sauf si cette dernière (10) est effectivement en période d'utilisation. Le couvercle (16) et le couvercle coulissant de la prise femelle interdisent également l'accès à la prise femelle (10), sauf s'ils sont positionnés de manière à recevoir un connecteur.
