A power split device and method is disclosed. The variable ratio power split device, comprises: radially inner and outer races, each comprising at least two axially spaced parts; a plurality of planetary members arranged for rolling contact between the inner and outer races; a planet follower carrier engaging with the planetary members; a first rotatable power element spindle connected with the planet follower and operable to couple power between the planet follower carrier and a first power element; a second rotatable power element spindle connected with the inner race and operable to couple power between the inner race and a second power element; a third rotatable power element spindle connected with the outer race and operable to couple power between the outer race and a third power element; and means for adjusting an axial separation of the axially spaced parts of at least one of the races to vary a power split ratio between the first, second and third rotatable power element spindles. By adjusting the axial separation of one of the races, the ratio of power distributed between the power element spindles is varied which improves the operability of the device.
L'invention porte sur un dispositif et un procédé de répartition de puissance. Le dispositif de répartition de puissance à rapport variable comprend : des pistes radialement intérieure et extérieure, comportant chacune au moins deux parties axialement espacées; une pluralité d'éléments planétaires agencés pour un contact de roulement entre les pistes intérieure et extérieure; un support suiveur de planétaire s'engrenant avec les éléments planétaires; un premier arbre d'élément de puissance apte à tourner, relié au suiveur de planétaire et pouvant fonctionner de façon à coupler une puissance entre le support suiveur de planétaire et un premier élément de puissance; un deuxième arbre d'élément de puissance apte à tourner, relié à la piste intérieure et servant à coupler une puissance entre la piste intérieure et un deuxième élément de puissance; un troisième arbre d'élément de puissance apte à tourner, relié à la piste extérieure et servant à coupler une puissance entre la piste extérieure et un troisième élément de puissance; et des moyens pour régler la séparation axiale des parties axialement espacées d'au moins l'une des pistes de façon à faire varier un rapport de répartition de puissance entre les premier, deuxième et troisième arbres d'élément de puissance aptes à tourner. En réglant la séparation axiale de l'une des pistes, le rapport de puissance distribué entre les arbres d'élément de puissance peut varier, ce qui améliore l'opérabilité du dispositif.
