A power supply (10) that includes a housing (12) for retaining the electronic components needed to operate a tattoo machine (50). The housing (12) includes a first region (36) in which the tattooing controls (40) are located and a second region (38) that includes a display screen (30). The first and second regions (36,38) are separated from each so that a plastic covering (56) can be drawn over only the first region (36) to protect the tattooing controls (40) while leaving the display screen (30) unobscured.
