The present invention provides methods and apparatus for reducing power consumption. One method includes de-tecting the presence of an object, identifying whether the object is a valid device and restricting power if its not a valid device. An-other method includes temporarily applying a low amount of power to the primary unit to detect a load, supplying more power to determine if its a valid secondary device, and restricting power if its not. An apparatus for reducing power consumption includes two power inputs, where the lower power input powers a sense circuit. A switch selectively decouples the higher power input from the primary subcircuit during detection mode and couples the higher power input to the primary subcircuit during power supply mode.
La présente invention concerne des procédés et un appareil permettant la réduction de la consommation dénergie. Un procédé comprend la détection de la présence dun objet identifiant si lobjet est un dispositif valide et la limitation dénergie sil nest pas un objet valide. Un autre procédé comprend lapplication temporaire dune faible quantité dénergie à lunité principale pour détecter une charge, lalimentation dune énergie supérieure pour déterminer sil est un dispositif secondaire valide, et la limitation dénergie sil ne lest pas. Linvention concerne également un appareil permettant la réduction de la consommation dénergie comportant deux entrées dalimentation, lentrée dalimentation plus faible alimentant un circuit de détection. Un commutateur assure le découplage sélectif de lentrée dalimentation supérieure provenant dun sous-circuit principal lors du mode de détection et le couplage de lentrée dénergie supérieure au sous-circuit primaire lors du mode dalimentation.
