A periodontal surgical instrument is disclosed which includes a motor. A rotary member (454) is mounted for movement at a center of rotation of the rotary member. A shaft (450) couples the output of the motor to the center of rotation of the rotary member. Coupling structure is secured to the rotary member at a point displaced from its center of rotation. A follower member (462) is coupled to the coupling structure. A track member (470) is coupled to the follower member and configured to allow the follower member to move in a closed loop path. A method of use is also described for this periodontal surgical instrument for procedures where extraction is desired.

L'invention concerne un instrument chirurgical parodontal comprenant un moteur. Un élément rotatif est monté mobile au niveau d'un centre de rotation dudit élément rotatif. Un arbre couple la sortie du moteur audit centre de rotation. Une structure de couplage est fixée à l'élément rotatif au niveau d'un point mobile depuis ledit centre de rotation. Un élément de poursuite est couplé à la structure de couplage. Un élément de guidage est couplé à l'élément suiveur, et configuré de façon à permettre audit élément suiveur de se déplacer dans un chemin en boucle fermée. Un outil est fixé à l'élément de guidage. Selon des modes de réalisation préférés, le moteur est un dispositif piézo-électrique. L'invention concerne également un procédé d'utilisation de l'instrument chirurgical parodontal dans des procédures où il est nécessaire d'effectuer une extraction.
