This disclosure describes a processing approach for the rapid and efficient in- situ polymerization of specially prepared precursor mixtures to achieve near-net-shape production of objects/articles with exact dimensions. The process relies on the use of polymerizable compositions comprised of a mixture of a reactive plasticizer and an initiator, optionally also including a dead polymer, which compositions are semi-solid-like and induce little shrinkage upon curing as a result of their partially polymerized nature prior to processing. The articles of the invention have a surface and an interior core, the composition of the surface material being distinct from the composition of the core material while at the same time the surface and the core are an integral, monolithic entity. In addition, the articles are dimensionally stable and exhibit high fidelity replication.

Cette invention concerne une approche de traitement pour la polymérisation in situ rapide et efficace de mélanges précurseurs spécialement préparés en vue de produire la production près de la côte désirée d'objets/articles aux dimensions exactes. Cette approche se base sur l'utilisation de compositions polymérisables constituées par un mélange d'un plastifiant réactif et d'un initiateur, renfermant éventuellement aussi un polymère mort, ces compositions étant du type semi-solide et n'entraînant qu'un faible rétrécissement lors du durcissement, étant donné leur nature partiellement polymérisée avant le traitement. Les articles ainsi produits présentent une surface et une noyau intérieur, la composition du matériau de surface étant distincte de la composition du matériau du noyau, tandis que la surface et le noyau forment une unité solidaire monobloc. Ces articles sont en outre stables en dimensions et permettent une réplication haute fidélité.
