L'invention concerne une protéine gp300 antigénique caractérisée par : - un poids moléculaire (PM) d'environ 300 Kd - l'association de deux unités d'une glycoprotéine gp140, précurseur notamment de la glycoprotéine d'enveloppe gp125 codée par le gène env du génome d'un rétrovirus humain HIV-2 susceptible de provoquer un SLA ou un SIDA ou la protéine d'un rétrovirus qui croise immunologiquement avec des anticorps dirigés contre ladite protéine gp300 du rétrovirus HIV-2. L'invention concerne aussi la préparation de ces protéines, des anticorps monoclonaux dirigés contre elles et des compositions immunogènes les contenant.
