The invention is based on the preparation of precursor organic solutions of tetravalent metal phosphates and pyrophosphates with composition M(IV)(O3P- OH)2, M(IV)[O2P(OH)2]2[O2PO(OH)] and M(IV)P2O7 (M= Zr, Hf, Ti). An important property of these solutions is that the said compounds are formed when the solvent is evaporated. This peculiarity allows an easy insertion of the compounds inside the pores of porous membranes, in polymeric membranes and in the electrodic interfaces of fuel cells. The acid properties of their surfaces, the high thermal stability and the insolubility in water make these particles extremely of interest for improving the efficiency of PEMFCs in the temperature range 90-130~C. The peculiar characteristics of non-water assisted proton conductivity of M(IV)[O2P(OH)2]2[O2PO(OH)] compounds open new prospects for their application in PEMFCs at low relative humidity.

L'invention concerne la préparation de solutions organiques précurseurs de phosphates métalliques et de pyrophosphates tétravalents avec une composition M(IV)(O¿3?P-OH)¿2?, M(IV)[O¿2?P(OH)¿2?]¿2?[O¿2?PO(OH)] et M(IV)P¿2?O¿7? (M= Zr, Hf, Ti). Une propriété importante de ces solutions réside dans le fait que ces composés sont formés lorsque le solvant est évaporé. Cette particularité permet une insertion facile des composants dans les ports de membranes poreuses, dans des membranes polymères et dans des interfaces d'électrodes des cellules électrochimiques. Les propriétés acides de leurs surfaces, la stabilité thermique élevée et l'insolubilité dans l'eau rendent ces particules extrêmement intéressantes dans l'amélioration de l'efficacité des PEMFC dans une gamme de température comprise entre 90 et 130·C. Les caractéristiques particulières de la conductivité de protons assistée sans eau des composés M(IV)[O¿2?P(OH)¿2?]¿2?[O¿2?PO(OH)] ouvrant de nouvelles perspectives pour leur applications dans des PEMFC à humidité relative faible.
