Method for determining whether a mammalian subject having a cancer belongs to a first or a second group, wherein subjects of the first group are more likely to respond to a platinum-based therapy than subjects of the second group, comprising the steps of: evaluating the amount of RBM3 protein or RBM3 mRNA present in at least part of a sample earlier obtained from said subject, and determining a sample value corresponding to said amount; comparing the sample value with a reference value; and, if said sample value is higher than said reference value, concluding that said subject belongs to a first group; and if said sample value is lower than or equal to said reference value, concluding that said subject belongs to a second group. There is further provided means useful in the establishment of a treatment prediction.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de déterminer si un sujet mammifère ayant un cancer appartient à un premier groupe ou à un second groupe, les sujets du premier groupe étant plus susceptibles de répondre à une thérapie à base de platine que les sujets du second groupe. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à évaluer la quantité de protéine RBM3 ou d'ARN de RBM3 se trouvant dans au moins une partie d'un échantillon obtenu préalablement sur ledit sujet, et à déterminer une valeur d'échantillon correspondant à ladite quantité; à comparer la valeur d'échantillon à une valeur de référence; et, si ladite valeur d'échantillon est supérieure à ladite valeur de référence, à conclure que ledit sujet appartient à un premier groupe; et si ladite valeur d'échantillon est inférieure ou égale à ladite valeur de référence, à conclure que ledit sujet appartient à un second groupe. L'invention concerne en outre des moyens utiles dans l'établissement d'une prévision de traitement.
