2071532 9203349 PCTABS00010 A tamper-indicating plastic closure (10) includes a pilfer band (24) at least partially detachably connected to a skirt portion (16) of the closure (10) by a frangible connection. The frangible connection comprises a plurality of circumferentially spaced frangible bridges (34), which fracture attendant to removal of the closure (10) from an associated container (C) to provide visually discernable evidence of opening. In order to facilitate high-speed application of the closure (10) to a container (C), one or more regions of the frangible connection are preferentially strengthened by the provision of relatively strengthened frangible bridges (34A, 34B). At least one of the strengthened bridges is generally diametrically opposed to the leading portion of the internal thread formation (18) of the closure (10).
