The invention is directed to water soluble silane compositions that are essentially alcohol free comprising compounds of the structure: (Ia) (RO) 3-X (Ho)xSi(CH2)3(OCH2CH2)bOH (IIa) {(RO) 2-y (Ho)ySi(CH2)3(OCH2CH2)bO}z wherein x ranges from 1 to 3, b ranges from 1 to 30, y is 0 or 1, and z ranges from 1 to 3, and R is an aryl or alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms. The invention further comprises methods for forming such compounds and for their use in preparing water soluble silane compositions by reaction with relative insoluble silane compounds terminated in functional groups selected from the group comprising epoxies, vinyls, mercaptos and acrylates.
'invention porte sur des compositions silanées hydrosolubles, essentiellement exemptes d'alcool, ayant la structure suivante (voir figure I) : (Ia) (RO) 3-X (Ho)xSi(CH2)3(OCH2CH2)bOH (IIa) {(RO) 2-y (Ho)ySi(CH2)3(OCH2CH2)bO}z où x est compris entre 1 et 3, b est compris entre 1 et 30, y est 0 ou 1, et z est compris entre 1 et 3; R est un radical aryle ou alkyle ayant entre 1 et 10 atomes de carbone. L'invention porte également sur des méthodes pour créer ces composés, et pour leur utilisation dans des compositions silanées, par réaction de composés silanés relativement insolubles terminés par des groupes fonctionnels choisis parmi les suivants : époxydes, vinyles, mercaptos et acrylates.
