The invention concerns a method for preparing 4-cyano-4'-hydroxy biphenyl, said method consisting in the following steps: protecting the hydroxy group of 4-phenyl-phenol, acylation of the protected 4-phenyl-phenol group, transforming the resulting ketone into an acid, amidation of the resulting acid, dehydrating the resulting amide and deprotecting the hydroxy group.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation du 4-cyano-4'-hydroxy biphenyle, ledit procédé comprenant la protection du groupe hydroxy du 4- phényl-phénol, l'acylation du groupe 4-phényl-phénol protégé, la conversion de la cétone résultante en un acide, l'amidification de l'acide ainsi obtenu, la déshydratation de l'amide résultante et la déprotection du groupe hydroxy.
