TITLE Preparation of 4-pentenenitrile By Isomerization Abstract A process is disclosed for the preparation of 4- pentenenitrile by isomerization of 3-pentenenitrile. In the process, 3-pentenenitrile is contacted with a heterogeneous catalyst selected for the group consisting of acid ion-exchange resins promoted with at least one group 8 noble metal in an oxidation state of at least +2, amorphous silica aluminates promoted with at least one group 8 noble metal, charcoal promoted with at least one group 8 noble metal, acid zeolites promoted with at least one group 8 noble metal, and perfluorinated ion-exchange polymers.
