The present invention relates to the use of a cocaine and amphetamine- regulated transcript (CART)-derived peptide for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for increasing bone mineral density by continuously providing elevated serum levels of the CART-derived peptide in a subject to be treated. Suitably, the elevated serum levels of the CART-derived peptide are continuously provided through slow release of the CART-derived peptide over an extended period of time from a slow release formulation.

Cette invention concerne l'utilisation d'un peptide dérivé d'un CART (transcrit régulé par cocaïne et amphétamine) pour la préparation d'une composition pharmaceutique destinée à accroître la densité minérale osseuse par maintien en continu de taux sériques élevés du peptide dérivé de CART chez un sujet qui doit être traité. De manière avantageuse, les taux sériques élevés du peptide dérivé de CART sont maintenus en continu par libération lente du peptide dérivé du CART sur une période de temps prolongée à partir d'une formulation à libération lente.
