ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE ? -keto carboxamides of the general formula : Image where R represents an aliphatic aromatic, aralkyl, alicyclic or heterocyclic radical,which may or may not be substituted, and Image is a residue derived from secondary or tertiary aliphatic or aromatic alcohols forming carbocations and selected from the group comprising : tertiary pentyl alcohol Image cyclohexanol Image and benzyl alcohol Image are prepared by condensing the corresponding secondary or tertiary alcohols with cyanhydrins. ? -keto-carboxylic acids of the formula R-CO-COOH, are prepared by hydrolysis of said carboxamides.
