ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A detergent composition, which may contain 2% to 40% of active and 5% to 60% of builder, is granulated, for example by spray drying, and then subjected to a densification treatment. This treatment occurs in an apparatus having a rotatable base plate positioned at the base of a smooth vertical cylindrical side wall. The increase in bulk density achieved by densification allows ample compensation for changes in formulation. The final density can be selected.
