ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to a process for the prepara- tion of an electrically conductive polyaromatic having an electrical conductivity greater than 10-2 Siemens/cm, said polyaromatic having the formula Image where X is -?r-, Ar is an aromatic system, R is H or an alipha- tic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic group or a functional group, and n is an integer from 1 to 50 said process consisting essentially of treating said polyaromatic in the absence of moisture with 0.5 to 15% by weight, based on the polyaromatic, of an oxidizing Lewis-acid.
