Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to a new process for preparing esters of thiocarbamic acids comprising a) reacting a carbamyl chloride with a mercaptan in the presence of aqueous solution of a caustic agent, preferably excess caustic agent; b) separating the organic and aqueous phases and c) recovering the thiocar- bamic acid ester from the organic phase.
