ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ethylene is oxidized to produce ethylene oxide by means of a thallic alkanoate in the presence of a turbulently agitated liquid-medium containing an alkanoic acid and water and optionally in the presence of an inert organic solvent, in a reaction zone having an ethylene partial pressure of at least 50 psig.
