Process for the preparation of formaldehyde through oxidative dehydrogenation of methanol characterized in that a gas mixture containing: a) 0.1 to 50 vol. % methanol, b) 0.1 to 30 vol. % oxygen, c) 0.1 to 50 vol. % nitrogen oxide and d) 0 to 60 vol. % water; is led to a phosphor-doped silver catalyst fixed bed (a) at a temperature of 150 to 800 ~C and where is deposited on the phosphor- doped silver catalyst fixed bed (a) 0.01 to 100 wt.ppm phosphor, in relation to the phosphor-doped silver catalyst fixed bed, in the form of a finely distributed phosphor compound with a melting or decomposition temperature of more than 500 ~C (phosphor compound P) per kg methanol led through the phosphor-doped silver catalyst fixed bed (a) in the form of the gas mixture (i), per cm2 of the cross-sectional area of the bed (a).
Procédé de fabrication de formaldéhyde par déshydrogénation oxydante de méthanol, caractérisé par le fait que l'on fait passer un mélange gazeux (i) contenant a) 0,1 à 50 % en volume de méthanol, b) 0,1 à 30 % en volume d'oxygène, c) 0,1 à 50 % en volume d'oxyde d'azote et d) 0 à 60 % en volume d'eau, à une température comprise entre 150 et 800 ·C, dans un lit fixe de catalyseur à l'argent dopé au phosphore (a); puis on dépose sur ce dernier (a), par kg de méthanol que l'on fait passer sous forme du mélange gazeux (i), par cm?2¿ de l'aire de section du lit fixe (a), 0,01 à 100 % en poids de phosphore, rapporté au lit fixe (a), sous la forme d'un composé finement divisé, à une température de fusion ou de décomposition supérieure à 500 ·C (composé phosphoré P).
