This invention relates to a method of preparing and purifying gem- dihaloalkanes in high yield and with minimal decomposition. The preparation consists essentially of halogenating a ketone with a halogenating agent and then purifying the resulting gem-dihaloalkane by vacuum distillation from the reaction mixture. In one preferred embodiment, 1,1-dichloro-1- cyclopropylethane is prepared and purified in good yield. Certain gem- dihaloalkanes are used as intermediates for the synthesis of novel HIV reverse transcription inhibitors.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de préparer et de purifier des gem-dihaloalcanes avec un haut rendement et une décomposition minimale. La préparation consiste essentiellement à halogéner une cétone à l'aide d'un agent halogénant, puis à purifier le gem-dihaloalcane obtenu par distillation sous vide à partir du mélange réactionnel. Selon un mode de réalisation préféré, on prépare et purifie du 1,1-dichloro-1-cyclopropyléthane avec un rendement satisfaisant. Certains gem-dihaloalcanes sont utilisés comme intermédiaires pour la synthèse de nouveaux inhibiteurs de la transcription inverse du VIH.
