Abstract An improved process for the anionic polymeri- zation of alpha-methylstyrene polymers employs an organolithium initiator and a sodium-, potassium-, rubidium- or cesium initiator activator compound. The process permits the preparation of polymers such as copolymers of styrene and alpha-methylstyrene having high purity had reduced color.
