- 1 - Abstract: A process is described for removing aromatic hydro- carbon components from middle distillates in the production of diesel and jet fuels. The aromatics in a middle distil- late obtained in a synthetic crude produced from oil sands or heavy oil deposits are converted to naphthenes by hydro- genating the middle distillate in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst in the form of elemental nickel on a highly porous support.
