ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In a process for the preparation of a ketone, an aldehyde of the general formula (I): Image (I) is isomerised at not more than 600°C over a zeolite catalyst. In the general formula, R1 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and R3 is alkyl of 1 to 10 carbon atoms which may furthermore contain aryl, or is aryl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl or a heterocyclic radical.
