A method of preparing metal mesoporphyrin halide compounds is described. The metal mesoporphyrin halide compound may be formed by forming a novel mesoporphyrin IX intermediate compound and then converting the mesoporphyrin IX intermediate to the metal mesoporphyrin halide through metal insertion. The novel intermediate compound may be formed by a catalytic hydrogenation of hemin in acid and subsequent recovery.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de composés à base d'halogénure métallique de mésoporphyrine. Le composé à base d'halogénure métallique de mésoporphyrine peut être obtenu par formation d'un nouveau composé intermédiaire de mésoporphyrine IX puis par conversion de l'intermédiaire de mésoporphyrine IX en halogénure métallique de mésoporphyrine par insertion de métal. Le nouveau composé intermédiaire peut être formé par hydrogénation catalytique d'hémine dans de l'acide et extraction ultérieure.
