ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is provided for producing a metallic article. The method includes forming a mixture of metallic particles selected from the group consisting of platinum group metals, gold, silver and base metals, the metallic particles having a size falling within the range 1/2 to 50 microns, and particles of a thermoplastic material; placing the mixture in a mold; molding the mixture under pressure and at an elevated tempera- ture; and removing the metallic article from the mold. This method is a distinct improvement over the "lost-wax" process in that a separate casting mold is not required for each of the individual article products. It is particularly adaptable for the fabrication of "cheap" items of jewellery, e.g., medallions, which are required to have a pleasing appearance but little intrinsic value.
