ABSTRACT Bovine viral diarrhoea virus is treated with a chemical mutagen - e.g. nitrous acid - and a temperature-sensitive mutant is isolated showing a growth capacity at 35° C considerably reduced versus the growth capacity at the usual growth temperature of 39° C. Such modified strain is valuable for vaccinal use when administered by parenteral route.
