PREPARATION OF N,N'-DIALKYLPHENYLENEDIAMES ABSTRACT N,N'-dialkylphenylenediames are prepared by the reductive alkylation of a nitroaniline and a ketone in the presence of hydrogen an a hydrogenation catalyst. The de- sired product may be obtained in a more economical way when effecting the process in a continuous manner by uti- lizing an organic solvent comprising an ether compound such as a monoether of a dihydric alcohol, a diether of a dihy- dric alcohol, or a cyclic diether.
