Abstract of the Disclosure: o-acylaminomethylbenzyl halides (I) Image (I) , in which X is Cl or Br and R1 is alkyl or aryl, are ob- tained by reacting an o-aminomethylbenzyl alkyl ether (II) Image (II) with an acylating agent, and then reacting the resulting acid amide, preferably without intermediate isolation, with an aqueous hydrohalic acid.
