PREPARATION OF PHOSPHONIC AND/OR PHOSPHINIC ACIDS Abstract of the disclosure: Preparation of phosphonic and/or phosphinic acids by hy- drolytic cleavage of phosphonic and/or phosphinic acid alkyl esters in the presence of the posphonic and/or phosphinic acid by carrying out the hydrolysis at a temperature of from 170 to 300°C, in case of R5 being methyl group at a temperature of from 160 to 250°C, with the use of at least a stoichiometric amount of water, and by distilling off the alkanol formed, optionally together with water.
