A process for the preparation of anhydrous high purity phosphorus pentafluoride in high yield. The process uses an excess of hydrogen fluoride in a reaction with a phosphoric acid to form hexafluorophosphoric acid followed by reaction with a sulfur based acid reactant in a reaction medium containing an excess of hydrogen fluoride.

La présente invention concerne un processus de préparation de pentafluorure de phosphore de haute pureté anhydre à haut rendement. Ce processus utilise un excès de fluorure d'hydrogène d'une réaction dans une réaction avec un acide phosphorique de façon à former un acide hexafluorophosphorique suivi par une réaction avec un réactif acide à base de soufre dans un milieu de réaction contenant un excès de fluorure d'hydrogène.
