Disclosed is a process for preparing polyamide powder having a narrow particle size distribution and a low porosity. The process comprises, (1) dissolving a polyamide having at least 10 C atoms in its monomer in a C1-C3 alcohol under pressure to produce a solution at 130-165°C, (2) cooling the solution without precipitation until nucleation takes place and maintaining the temperature constant for awhile, (3) further cooling the solution until super saturation results, (4) then precipitating particles of the polyamide at a constant temperature to obtain a suspension and (5) drying the polyamide particles. The polyamide powder so-obtained is useful, for example, as a coating material.

On divulgue un procédé pour préparer de la poudre de polyamide de distribution granulométrique étroite et de faible porosité. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : 1) dissoudre un polyamide dont le monomère compte au moins 10 atomes de carbone dans un alcool en C1-C3 sous pression pour produire une solution à 130-165 degrés C, 2) refroidir la solution sans précipitation jusqu'à ce qu'il y ait nucléation et maintenir la température constante pendant un certain temps, 3) refroidir davantage la solution jusqu'à l'état de sursaturation, 4) faire précipiter les particules de polyamide à une température constante pour obtenir une suspension et 5) sécher les particules de polyamide. La poudre de polyamide ainsi obtenue est utile, par exemple, comme matière de revêtement.
