The present invention provides a process for the preparation of a prostamide which comprises the steps of (d) reacting first intermediate having the general formula (I) with DIBAL wherein Z is a protecting group and the dotted line represents the presence or absence of a double bond to yield a second intermediate having the general Formula (II) (b) reacting said second intermediate with Na(TMS)2N and (C6H5)3P+(CH2)6CONR2X wherein R is a C1-5 alkyl or hydrogen and X is an anion to yield a third intermediate having the general formula (III) (c) reacting said third intermediate with a protecting agent to yield a fourth intermediate having the general formula IV (e) reacting said fourth intermediate to remove said protecting groups and yield a prostamide having the general formula V

L'invention concerne un procédé servant à préparer un prostamide comprenant les étapes suivantes : (a) faire réagir le premier intermédiaire de formule (I), dans laquelle Z est un groupe protecteur et la ligne en pointillé représente la présence ou l'absence d'un lien double pour produire un deuxième intermédiaire de formule (II) ; (b) faire réagir ledit deuxième intermédiaire avec Na(TMS)<SB>2</SB>N ET (C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>5</SB>)<SB>3</SB>P<SP>+</SP>(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>6</SB> CONR<SB>2</SB>X<SP>-</SP>, formule dans laquelle R représente alkyle C¿1-5? ou hydrogène et X<SP>-</SP> représente un anion pour produire un troisième intermédiaire de formule (III) ; (c) faire réagir ledit troisième intermédiaire avec un agent protecteur pour produire un quatrième intermédiaire de formule IV ; (d) faire réagir ledit quatrième intermédiaire pour éliminer lesdits groupes protecteurs et produire un prostamide de formule (V).
