A process for preparing a hydrocarbon-in-water emulsion comprises the steps of: providing a substantially homogeneous solution of a liquid additive in water; mixing said solution with a hydrocarbon in a mixer so as to provide a first emulsion of hydrocarbon in water having a ratio by volume of hydrocarbon to water of at least about 90:10; adding additional additives to at least one of said mixer and said first emulsion; and diluting said emulsion with water so as to provide a final emulsion having a ratio by volume of hydrocarbon to water of less than 90:10. In accordance with the invention, gelling of additives such as surfactants is avoided and properties of the emulsion can be tailored to desired requirements.
Cette invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'une émulsion hydrocarbure/eau, qui comprend les étapes suivantes : composer une solution presque homogène d'un additif liquide dans l'eau; mélanger cette solution avec un hydrocarbure dans un mélangeur pour obtenir une première émulsion dont le rapport hydrocarbure/eau par volume est environ d'au moins 90:10; ajouter de nouvelles quantités d'additifs à au moins un de ces mélangeurs et à une de ces émulsions; et diluer celle-ci dans de l'eau pour obtenir une émulsion finale dont le rapport hydrocarbure/eau par volume est inférieur à 90:10. Cette invention devrait permettre d'éviter la gélification d'additifs tels que les surfactants, et d'adapter les propriétés de l'émulsion aux besoins formulés.
