A method for the preparation of aromatic amines such as N-phenyl-p- phenylenediamine wherein an aromatic amine such as aniline is oxidized with oxygen or hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a metal pentacyno ferrated(II) complex, includes subsequent catalytic reduction of the complex by hydrogenation in the presence of a metal catalyst having at least two Group VIII metals, preferably platinum in combination with ruthenium either together on a single carbon support or each metal separately on carbon supports.

Ce procédé de préparation d'amines aromatiques telles qu'une N-phényl-p-phénylènediamine consiste à oxyder une amine aromatique, telle qu'une aniline, à l'aide d'oxygène ou de peroxyde d'hydrogène, en présence d'un complexe métallique pentacyano ferrate (II), et à exécuter une réduction catalytique ultérieure du complexe par hydrogénation, en présence d'un catalyseur métallique possédant au moins deux métaux du groupe VIII, de préférence du platine combiné à du ruthénium, placés soit ensemble sur un support de carbone, soit chacun séparément sur un support de carbone.
