ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A trialkyltin chloride in which the alkyl groups have from about one to six carbon atoms is prepared, with- out detectable tetraalkyltin, from the corresponding dialkyl- tin dichloride in one step and in high yield using a catalyst mixture comprising a trihydrocarbylamine or trihydrocarbyl- phosphine and stannic chloride.
